Photo Essay: “Little Manila” in Nicosia, Cyprus

Coming to Cyprus with my Pinoy partner, one thing I did not expect to find was a thriving Filipino community in it’s capital city, Nicosia. Although not dubbed Little Manila, you could easily call this area just off Ledra Street at Arsinois Street exactly that. Let’s take a look.

An understated entrance that is quite mysterious…

A great selection of Filipino favourites - with decent prices to boot.

Inside revealed a traditional Filipino-style house interior (bahay kubo) that is found in places like the mountainous regions of the Philippines. (Apologies for the bluriness).

I finally get Halo Halo. It was perfect for the Cyprus late-summer heat.

The baked items were beautiful, particularly the Spanish Bread. They’re produced fresh at a local bakery.

Nearby you can also get your fix of Filipino and South East Asian foods.

As well as the local Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) community club.

If you’re in this part of Nicosia on holiday, a Filipino living in Cyprus or anybody here - be sure to take a check at this part of town. Cordillera Bake Shop is great and we certainly didn’t expect to see it in Cyprus. Even many large cities in the UK, which have populations greater than the entire island of Cyprus, don’t have Filipino stores and bakeries! Now, time for Jollibee to embrace Aphrodite’s Island 😉.

Unfortunately, there is no internet presence for these places - just head down to Arsinois Street, just a couple minutes from Ledra Street, and you will be there in no time.
