Need a hotel day stay? This website might help

For starters, this is not a sponsored post but I have a conundrum for my upcoming travels to Asia. I have a 12 hour daytime (5am-5pm) layover in Bangkok but as I am on two separate tickets, I can’t check in early or lounge hop at the airport (I’ll be flying on Gulf Air). I began looking at options because I wanted to freshen up and have somewhere to store luggage while I grab food in the city before I came across this app.

Daytime hotels with Dayuse.com

After a quick Google search, I cam across Dayuse which appears to have been in existence for a decade or so. The concept is simple:

  • Search for your destination

  • Select the date

  • Browse for options

It’s pretty simple and just like any other hotel booking website.

Prices in Bangkok were cheap, although that is relative since there is an abundance of properties and luxury hotels are cheap. However, GBP 23 for a hotel room for 10 hours is excellent alongside full use of facilities in the property, including the swimming pool and gym, is excellent. I have paid GBP 20 in Doha Hamad Airport and GBP 10 in San Francisco Airport to use a shower - this makes for a great option if you have enough time on your hands.

Even better, these bookings are fully flexible and cancellable until the day prior as well as payment only necessary when you arrive at the hotel. In the current travel uncertainties, this is exactly what you need as a traveller. Besides travellers like myself, this could also come in handy for those who have a holiday somewhere and then a late departing flight so will require a room time extension. Hotels directly can often charge extortionate prices, so this may be worth a look.

Are there any downsides?

I’ll reserve judgment until the stay but so far there seems to be few downsides to using this - all involved benefit. The only detractor is the coverage. I searched a few cities, including Istanbul, Nicosia and Tokyo, and there were no hotels in the cities. This can change over time but just bear this in mind when searching for properties to stay at.

Once I complete my stay, I’ll do a brief review of the process and hopefully report back with positive news; hopefully the day stay will fly by. In the meantime, have you tried Dayuse before? Let us know your experience in the comments.
