Trip report: Domestic travel hopping during Covid-19

As hopes of foreign travel appear less and less likely this summer, I thought it worth revisiting my travel experience during Covid-19 within my own country. Prior to the pandemic, I had done much exploration further afield - Europe and Asia primarily - and I had neglected what is in my own backyard or, more accurately, anything north of the M25 motorway. This was in October 2020, prior to the Autumn wave, when travel internationally was limited and could result in having to complete quarantine at the drop of the Transport Secretary's hat.

As such we opted to go for a hop around the British Isles, taking in some of the best that the UK has to offer. Over the coming weeks, this Trip Report series will show you a host of experiences during this visit including:

  • What's it like to fly on British Airways domestic flights during Covid-19?
  • British Airways Heathrow Terminal 5 lounges - better than before Covid?
  • the BEST of Edinburgh, Scotland
  • Review of Eden Locke Aparthotel, Edinburgh
  • a getaway to a very wet and cold but picturesque Highlands
  • a very empty Aer Lingus Regional flight from Edinburgh to Belfast
  • Northern Ireland's capital - Belfast
  • AC Hotel by Marriott, Belfast review
  • visiting the epic NI coastline, Giant's Causeway and getting some Game of Thrones facts thrown in for free

Hopefully this Trip Report series can act as inspiration for your domestic travel later in 2021 - before we can fully take our vaccinated selves abroad to explore more of the world.
